Purple Egyptian costume (2006)

purplecostume01This is the reincarnation of the first fully beaded bedlah that I made. The first version included a belt with a closure at the center back (what was I thinking?) and a bra with tiny bra cups. As I started to teach and perform, I needed a costume so I took the old costume apart and used the sequins and beads to create a better version.
The beading technique to cover this set is one sequin, one bead. That’s right, the whole surface was done by this method. The gold siwrls are made by sewing a row of gold sequins into swirly shapes. The skirt was a lucky internet find. The amazing lushious fringe was supplied by Sakkara.de, it costs a fortune but it was such an amazing quality. I sold this costume around 2010 and haven’t seen it since.
